Specialist Contracting Ltd inspection and maintenance of lightning protection systems have always been a historical part of the steeplejack industry and gave rise to Churchill’ s second division: LPE.
The demand for concrete repairs, structural maintenance, leak sealing, and specialist coatings at lower level for a different customer base saw the launch of Churchill’ s Environmental division in 2015, later known as SMW.
Steady growth trajectory
In 2024, a successful management buy-out was completed transferring ownership from the Murry family to the well-established, existing team of four directors, Richard Rowson, Daniel White, Will Burnside and Aimee Riddell, with the message to all customers and suppliers that it was all still business as usual.
Managing Director and part owner Richard Rowson, joins us to elaborate on the company’ s evolution.“ Since I joined the business in 2013, we have tripled our turnover, with planned steady growth seeing us on track to achieve £ 10 million for our recently completed financial year. This is a huge achievement by our dedicated team of staff and our directly employed, highly qualified workforce.”
