“ When we last spoke, the business was coming through a challenging period,” shares Paul Clarkson, Managing Director.“ Turnover had dipped due to a combination of factors, including the election, Labour’ s budget and wider global uncertainty around tariffs. Activity had been subdued for six-tonine months, but by last summer we were beginning to see an uptick in workload and were optimistic about entering a more stable period.
“ That momentum carried through, and we entered the current financial year with the strongest forward order book in our history: close to £ 50 million. However, geopolitical tensions and ongoing economic uncertainty have since slowed the market considerably. While we’ re seeing encouraging signs, with inquiries improving over the past six-to-eight weeks, volatility continues to be a defining feature of the construction sector.
“ One area that has provided resilience for us is our ongoing work with Whitbread through the Premier Inn framework. As the company restructures parts of its estate, we’ ve secured a steady pipeline of projects that has helped offset softer conditions elsewhere in the market,” he explains.
“ Despite the turnover reduction we experienced last year, we’ re expecting to report an improved profit position when our accounts are published. Looking ahead, if market conditions continue to stabilise and fuel costs remain under control, we’ re
