Palmers combines 146 years of heritage with innovation to redefine specialist access and industrial services

Palmers’ origins date back to 1880, when master mariner Edwin Palmer founded the business, drawing on his knowledge of ships’ rigging, ropes and lifting equipment to develop wooden-pole scaffolding and pioneering suspended cradle-access systems,” begins Adam Butt, CEO. Indeed, one of the company’ s earliest innovations was the Palmers Travelling Cradle, a traversing suspended platform designed to provide safe, practical access at height. Formally incorporated as Palmers Scaffolding Limited in 1919, the business is recognised as the UK’ s longest-established scaffolding company.

“ Over time,” Adam continues,“ Palmers has evolved from a traditional scaffolding contractor into a national specialist access and industrial services provider, supporting major projects across construction, nuclear, rail, infrastructure, power, aviation and industrial sectors.
“ More recently, it has expanded its offering as a full scaffolding, insulation and painting services( SIPS) contractor, combining established scaffolding expertise with insulation and protective coatings capabilities to deliver a more integrated service.”
