Recently , on behalf of Kier Construction , and as part of the SCAPE Better Building school initiative , Thurston provided a new twostorey modular classroom block that tied into the existing school buildings on the campus . Volumetric Modular was chosen to minimise on-site risks while achieving an advanced delivery programme . Other features included three ICT suites , a fully equipped science laboratory , seven classrooms , rooftop , and a PV array . Its precision manufacturing method allowed the building to be manufactured in a controlled setting off-site , greatly reducing dust or contamination levels on site .
Working with principal contractor Kier Construction , Thurston ’ s work consisted of removing two temporary classrooms from an open courtyard , then the design and build of a two storey , 24 bay modular classroom block in the London borough of Wandsworth . Internally , the addition comprised three dedicated ICT suites , and a fully fitted science laboratory along with seven classrooms .
