Specialist Contracting Ltd rather than from ropes, ladders, or cradles, with all SMW operatives confined space trained.“ In some cases, all three divisions work in conjunction with each other on the same project. SMW recently carried out the full internal re-lining and refurbishment of a 40-metre-tall water tower to bring it up to current specifications,” Richard explains.“ Working alongside our SJ division, a bespoke motorised cradle platform was designed and installed to facilitate access across the full internal height of the tower. SMW then removed the existing internal coating using ultra-high-pressure water jetting, before applying cementitious repairs to the substrate and providing a specialist final coating. The lightning protection system on the roof of the tower was also repaired and tested, meaning all three divisions were deployed to work together for one client, saving both time and money.”
As our conversation draws to a close, Richard shares the company’ s current
priorities and plans for the future.“ We’ re in the process of modernising our IT systems, and we’ ve recently moved to a new CRM and Business Operating Platform system that hosts everything in a single system relating to our 9001, 45 001 and 14 001 Integrated management system. This includes HR processes, estimating and operational systems and procedures, all designed to greatly improve our operational efficiency” he reveals.
“ We always have one eye on the future and intend to continue our controlled and steady growth whilst maintaining the hard-earned reputation born from many years of working closely with our loyal and valued client portfolio, as well as new clients. Our aim is to keep delivering a first-class professional service without stretching ourselves too far, growing too quickly or watering down our quality.” ■
