Supporting social value
Alongside its sustainability strategies , Cognition has recently invested more time and resources into improving its social value strategy . “ We are currently collaborating with CHY Consultancy to improve our social value policies and activities . From charity football tournaments and working with local talent to our graduate development programme and our commitment to carbon neutrality , we have always engaged in social value actions . However , we are simply taking this opportunity to further improve the ways in which we support our community to broaden the positive impact our business has , both internally and externally .
“ Looking to the year ahead , we have another flagship regeneration project in the pipeline . We are working on the Meridian Regeneration Project in Tottenham . This is a huge remediation project requiring expertise in all aspects of ground engineering . As such , we are looking to invest in acquiring strategic staff to facilitate increasing our capacity to take on more projects and develop our geographical reach .
“ We are also funding Construction Industry Research and Information Association ( CIRIA ) guidance into the management of odour on brownfield development . CIRIA is an independent , not-for-profit body doing work to address issues , challenges , and opportunities for innovation and development across the built environment and construction sectors .
“ Providing the economic situation remains stable over the next few years , we want to continue to grow and scale up our capacity to deliver more projects and increase our market share ,” Rob concludes . “ It ’ s an exciting time for us . We have a successful track record of delivering large scale , complex and diverse projects . This is now widely recognised within the industry and is presenting opportunities for us with existing and new clients . We want to do this sustainably and by increasing our talent pool . The new infrastructure required to support hydrogen manufacture will require earthworks , remediation and civils , and we will continue to diversify our growth into the energy sector via the vehicle of Cognition Clean Energy .” ■
